Hi Guys

Anyone had Piston 4 Issues?

Looking into re-mapping car, exhaust etc etc.

Came across the issues with the 4th piston so im holding back at the moment.

Has anyone got advise?

I generally use 99octane shell fuel and dont let it under 1/4 tank.

Driven gently for 10minutes from cold start and driven carefully 2miles before arriving and idle for 20-30secs with hot air on full.

Should i save up some more money, to get the uprated pistons Regal are currently supplying? or should i be okay?

Your thoughts please XD

think its to do with high temps. not sure, havent read too much into it.

im sure if you looks after it, warm up and cool down then it should be fine.

some tuners offer warranties with their remaps

and regal will put a new piston in for £600 so its not the end of the world if it does go

To be honest I wouldn't worry too much about the whole piston 4 thing.

I have been running EDS software, which is said to be the most aggressive, for a good 12-18months now and have never had a problem, along with quite a few others. As long as you look after the car - warm up, cool down, don't thrash it from cold or when low on fuel etc you should be fine.

You are always going to get to hear about the negatives as people rarely post the positives!

Would not say never however your preventing the outcome slightly.

Like anything if you look after the parts correct law of average states it'll last however does not always work like that.

The whole piston talk wouldnt personally put me off having a remap however if it were me i would be looking at other items before a remap unless you were finishing the car off.

We do not remap however any issues or questions we are happy to help and point you in the right direction :)

they assume that anymore than 230bhp you will have problems, there has been more than a few vxr running more than that on standard injectors and not had problems, they also said they will be making bigger injectors but still havent seen them released yet

Spoken to Thorney, they can supply and install bigger injectors, also they are on Regal website.

What would the difference be if i re-mapped the got an exhaust system rather than exhaust system then re-map??? Surely it would not make a difference....especially if you were going the Bluefin / Eds unit route?

aftermarket exhaust is freer flowing, so your actuator would need adjusting. I would get them both done at the same time and actually take your car to a tuner to have the work done (unless you are confident correcting the boost yourself of course!)
