Injectors

Hi guys

Now cars been mapped i want to get the all famous injector problem sorted before piston No4 goes bang, standard vxrs have been reporting this problem now so obviously mapped cars are more prone to this problem, does Anyone know if there is a bigger injector that will fit the standard manifold?

Regal do the Oem astra fuel rail with injectors etc, i just really want a straight swap with better flow tbh.

Have thorney not brought anything out yet? Thought they were doing something about the injectors ages ago???

you do not need then mate,the piston #4 problem has nothing to do with the injectors.
only the corsa's running the KO4 turbo use bigger injectors.
i ran 260bhp on std injectors and pistons for a year with a problem.

I do high miles Wayne so rather be safe than sorry.

My car is on 30k miles atm and just had the map, i do drive rather aggressivly at times but i do warm up and cool down before starting / turning off engine. Standard cars been reporting this problem now and i dont want it happening to my car as i wouldnt be able to pay someone to sort out my engine at the moment.

my cars on 31k

blizzard intercooler
full exhaust
regal 240 map
denso spark plugs

been running that set up for 5k miles now

the only problem i have got is my sports cat is dead

if you are worried about safety put a fmic on it
there is only one tuner that says injectors are needed

before my cooler my engine temp used to go to around 100 when thrashing

doesnt go above 96 now with the cooler

if piston 4 is going to melt my guess is its getting to hot

this is all my personal opinion

Well i have recently purchased a cool run thermostat to help running temps....do you rekon this should be enough?

only one company says its injectors! all others say thats a load of ****e!!!

piston 4 is normally pilot error!

i realy need to get one of them and water wetter

my theory is the only tuner that says an injector upgrade is needed to stop piston 4, say its not needed to stage 3 , if they say its needed that much why isnt it stage 1
if that makes sence , im trying to word it so i dont start tuner wars

i would say it helps a little mate . should keep your engine temp down

Ok well thanks for the replies guys, the subject is interesting, i see your point about stage 1 not really needing injectors. Once the cool run thermostat is fitted i think temps will be a bit better and maybe yes i should buy uprated pistons. Does anyone know why its only Nr 4 that goes? Im just worried more than anything i do high miles in my car and i love it so much! i would hate for it to go bang on me!

Sris have lower compression pistons as i understand....not sure whether this makes a difference? Has to be done though transforms the car!

If its running lean, could slightly increased fuel pressure sort the problem out? i may have to take an injector out and have it bench run see when it completly shuts out on pressure.

not sure mate dont ask me on that one! when i got mine dynod the guy said my cars running a little bit rich but my car loves it - so im hoping i dont run lean

how does piston 4 actually go then ?

i think its heat mate
before my cooler and denso plugs
when i had my rollling road
my first run i made 217 bhp (dam acuator)
second run i made 208 bhp

the guy rolling it said i needed a cooler asap or things are going to go pop, i lost 9 bhp in no seconds because ofthe heat
but this is my opinion
i would like to hear other people opinions

i have read about a head gasket going before
warm the car up and cool it down mate is the best you can do
and dont push it for long periods of time

Agreed, when the vxr was on dyno, 4th run it pulled 222bhp then after that because of heat soak (Possibly due to the turbocharger being to hot bringing warmer air into cylinders) power started to drop by 2/3bhp per run, but surely if your on a Road youll get faster and colder air into cylinders?

yep he wouldnt do me a 3rd run till i got some cooling sorted haha
but some how i made 280 torque lol

if its a hot day not to sure if the air will be cooler
my car had some fans on it when on the rollers

nah was on the regal map
i think not having it set up right realy didnt help lol
