if you open your windows for 5 minutes before the end of your journey the air inside the car will obviously be cold like the outside, therefore it wont cool down and freeze to your windscreen
its freezing because the air inside the car is warmer than the air outside (beacause of the heaters obviously) so when this cools, you get condensation, then you get ice
Try putting some old carpet or similar onto the screen once you have parked up for the night, that should insulate both inside and out.
This has worked for me for the last couple of nights.
mine was doing it aswell. but found an idea for that. Mind You got a wee bags with small balls inside whch is absorbing a damp from air when You buy new trainers? (just an example) Well my misus working for bic electronic company and they got deliveries with silicon blocks. In the boxes are the same bag witha that small balls inside but alot bigger. two on a back and two under a seats and job's done. absorbing everything and works really well. Car probably is damp inside. There's a couple of reasons. Main is when U get Ur car mats they are absorbing every drop of water, snow and other s**t from Ur boots. When U turn a heater on (as I do aswell for legs) that starting water to evaporate and U got steamy windows inside. With connection with freezin temp's outsiedce U got frozen windows inside.
Sorry for boring post but i think it answered most questions. As someone said also helps when U turn heaters to cold short before U end Ur journey.
i always thought it happened when there was damp inside your car ie your carpets or matts from your trainers. or i remember it happened on corsa c's when rain leaked into the passenger footwell
its called silica gel and yeah you will need quite a bit of it lol however if you buy a cheap biscuit barrel in the lid they have it and u can take out the metal thing that holds it and yeah just whack it under the seats or summat
Mines has only ever frozen inside once, found it strangely funny at first, freezing inside.
Didn't find it so funny after I started driving and it started melting and all the condensation ran down the window and i couldn't see feckall
the silica gel thing sounds a good idea as i agree with the above about damp getting in due to snow on feet etc then its all condensation freezing etc...
A long time depends on humidity , extreme temps etc
It constants absorbs & de sorbss depending on water vapour
All I know is you can re use it by putting it in the oven at 150degree to re dry it out just the beads not in the sachet lol
