This is a tutorial explaining how you can post images into threads/posts via flickr. If your not sure how to post images into threads/posts then hopefully this tutorial will help you out.
Firstly choose which hosting site you'd like to use. I'd recommend Flickr.com however you can use other image hosting sites, like Photobucket.com or Imageshack.us. They all do the same thing, and the process is the same its just features that differ and quality of images.
(I'll use flickr for this tutorial as (in my opinion) the picture quality is better and in general has better, simpler editing options for those who don't have the use of Photoshop and software like that)
• Go to www.flickr.com and click on "Create Your Account"
• This is where you'll either need to log in with your Yahoo Account (if you have a @Yahoo.com email account just log in with those details) or create a new account. For this tutorial I'll click the "Sign Up" link at the bottom.
• Go through the signing up process, entering various details to create your @Yahoo.com email address to use Flickr with.
• Once you have signed up and chosen your username go back to flickr.com and click "Upload Photos & Video"
• Click "Choose photos and videos" and select which pictures you want to upload to flickr. (Press and hold ctrl to select more than one file)
• You'll then come to a screen that looks something like the image below, if all your pictures you want to upload are shown in the top white box click "Upload Photos and Videos" if they aren't click the "Add More" link and the rest.
• Once you've uploaded all of your chosen pictures, you'll come to a screen like this. Just click the flickr logo at the top left to take you back to the main page.
• You should see a your uploaded pictures in the "Your Photostream" area. Choose which photo you'd like to use first and click it.
• You'll then come to a page like this. This is where you can choose what you'd like to do to your picture, eg; edit, delete etc. For images you want to use on Corsa D the only ones you'll really need are the "All Sizes" (Circled Yellow) and "Edit Photo" (Circled Red) links.
• Click "All Sizes" (Circled Yellow on the picture) This is where you can choose what size you'd like your image. There are 4 pre-set images ranging from 75 px to 500 px (px stands for pixel width, its the first number below the words medium, etc) and the Large option which is the original size of the image. As long as the image isn't overly big you should be fine with Large. (800 px is probably the size I'd choose for all of my images, any bigger and you might end up killing everyones internet) The pictures do resize themselves on this forum, but the images still have to load up which takes time. So don't go overkill with the size.
The picture size i've used in this thread has been set to the Medium size, which isn't too bad. However if i was posting images of my car I'd use the large setting (again, make sure the original file isn't way over 800 px or you might have problems with file size) If your picture is getting a bit on the large size it might be better to resize the image manually by going back to the image and pressing "Edit Photo" (Red Circle) pressing resize and imputing your own sizes.
• Once your happy with the size (if you've gone from the page below to edit your image, go back to it) you can grab the image URL to use on this forum. Scroll towards the bottom of the page and you'll see a area with two boxes. You want to choose the bottom box (Circled red) the top box wont work on this forum so also ignore the little reminder at the bottom of the page warning you about guidelines. Highlight the text in the bottom box and copy it (either right click and choose copy, or press ctrl C) (so to make sure we are on the same wave lenth the link im copying in this instance is http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4005/4190924721 _5f66544c4e_o.jpg Yours will obviously be different, but should look something like it and start with farm(number).static. If it doesn't, you've copied the wrong link)
• Go to your post or thread on this forum find where you want to put your image. You now have two options on how to post your image into your thread. Either write your on BB code at either side of the url you want to show as an image or press on the "Insert Image" tab which will do the above for you. It all depends on personal choice.. More info about each is below!
•• Write your own BB Code at either end of the text. You need to paste your copied link into your thread and add [IMG] to the left side of the link and [/IMG] to the right side. So it looks like the text in the image below.
OR
••Press on the little yellow box which has two mountains and a small square in the top right (highlighted in the red box) and paste your url into the pop-up window (circled red)
The both have the same effect and do the same things as you can see.
That is it! Your image is now in your thread. You can press "Preview Post" at the bottom to make sure the link is working, if its not and comes up with just words underlined then you need to read back through the tutorial and ensure you've done everything right.
To add more images just go back to the main flickr page and repeat the steps until all your images are in your thread.
I hope this has helped, I know its gone on for a small century but hopefully its made it all a bit easier and clearer for everyone who doesn't know how to post images in their posts or threads.
