The vxr takes just under 3L so if you get 3L you'll have enough

Are you changing the fluid because it's hard to get certain gears?

    Thanks

Yeah in 1st and 2nd gear, the gear stick gets stuck in the 1st and 2nd gear when changing up or down, also under the car on the gearbox area its full up with oil as its been leaking, (i think the gasket has worn)

Just wondered because I've started having problems getting first and reverse, so I'm hoping that if I change the gearbox oil, it'll solve this.

What kind of problems are you facing? what exactly? I been struggling to get the oil pan opened as there is something in the way of the two bolts and need a flexi tool or a deep spanner, so waiting on the tools to arrive if get them by tomorrow will look forward to be doing that on Sunday if not then sometime next week

I sometimes can't engage first gear and have to put it in second and then slide it into first from there. Also reverse will be a pain, sometimes pressing on the clutch afew times will finally get it in. Otherwise my gears are smooth and engage perfectly. I had a mechanic have a quick look at it, but on the day, my gears were perfect, Sod's law. He's the one that said try changing the gearbox oil. My mileage is at 68 thousand and it doesn't have a service book so I don't know what's been done to it before I owned it.

I don't think so if the gearbox oil has ever been changed on yours. Vauxhall gearbox oil which they use for gearbox is rubbish anyway. Even my Corsa is around the same mileage at the moment. I'm hoping changing the gearbox oil should solve the issue, once i have done it will keep you all updated

It did to some degree. It definitely made the gear changes smoother but it still was a little awkward getting into 1st every time.

Did you use OEM oil or did you buy spec equivalent? As I'm not sure to use OEM or a different brand. Thanks

I had a local garage do the gearbox oil change, if i remember correctly, they said they used Vauxhall’s oem oil.
