Been having a problem with my 58reg corsa 1.3 diesel starting

Every morning it starts no problem, but if you only do a small journey and turn the car off and go to Start it it will not start, it has to be left for 5-10 mins before it will start again. If it is left a long time it starts fine. I've had it in at garage but it's coming up with no faults on diagnosis machine,

Crank sensor? When it doesn't start get a computer plugged into it and double check it's getting an RPM reading. If it doesn't then it's got a sensor issue.

Thankyou, I hoped someone was going to say crank sensor, I have been reading I few forums online before coming across this website and someone had a similar issue to mine and someone said to them about the crank sensor. I went and bought one and my mate at his garage tried to fit it yesterday but the old one is solid to get out, I thought I'd try that first with the sensor only been £18, then if that doesn't work then take it to Vauxhall specialist

We have a similar car at home and had an issue where somedays it would struggle to start in the mornings or after it started would loose power.

Turned out to be some sort of limp mode that kicked in if you touched the clutch too much ( Vaxuhall said this).
We were told to push your foot all the way down on the clutch then back up then turn the keys till you have all your lights wait a second and then push your foot all the way down on the accelerator.
You then just needed to take your foot off the accelerator and start the engine and for us that worked everytime as they told us it reset something

Give it a go worth a shot.

Most probably got a sticking egr valve, it's quite common

Finally got round to changing the crank sensor yesterday, and the car has done the same thing this morning�� gutted, well that's the sensor eliminated, what do people suggest next??

When you say it doesn't start please elaborate.

Does it crank over, do you hear the starter motor or is it just completely dead until 5-10 minutes later?

You can hear starter motor, it's like battery is flat, turns over but won't Fire, have to leave it around 5-10mins then it will start, will only do it on the first small journey of the day then it's fine for the rest, it's a weird one

When the car won't start can you hear the fuel pump when you put the ignition on?

If it's coming back from the garage with no faults ur could be a tricky one to diagnose.

Perhaps check to ensure there is no water in the fuse box.

Also check all earths, for corrosion, oxidisation, tightness.

If I'm correct, check from beg terminal of battery to chassis leg, to gear box to engine block also the ecu Earth.

Something as simple as checking these may or may not save you some money in diagnosis. Hope this helps!

Yea you can here the fuel pump, it did it to me this morning, started fine first thing, did a short journey to shop (2mile), came out the shop 5mins later and wouldn't start, was sat there 10mins trying to start it and it was just ticking over, started after 10mins, any other short journeys after that is fine though, it will only do this once a day, cheers guys for the help, my mate is taking the car Tuesday night and driving it to his garage Wednesday morning and when he gets there he is going to switch it off then switch it back on ( it won't start). Then plug his machine into it and hopefully it comes up with something, I will tell him to check those things which you said about, thanks

Just had it in at my mates garage again and it's didn't start so he plugged this machine in and it's coming up with code ' key remote signal intermittant' he wiped the code and car started straight away, can someone please help on this code as to what is wrong

Is there an immobiliser on the car? Could be something to do with the key signal to the immobiliser transponder?

Also we do use two keys with the car, I have one on my set of keys and my girlfriend has a key, and with both keys the car won't start, it's not just one key were having the problem with, it's both

Tried the car this morning, and it did the same, so wiping the code hasn't solved the problem
