Hello, I have an '07 1.2 Club, bought it this year third hand. The guy who owned it before me said he'd neglected to have it serviced, but when I had it serviced after buying it from him there were only minor issues and maintenance - it was remarkably good.

It does have an air con button (snowflake) but when I press it the air temperature coming out of the vents does not change. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the recirculation is turned on or not, too - I've just had the windows open during these hot days.

I'm thinking the air con needs to be recharged. Either that or the compressor is bust. What is my best option for getting it working? Any recommendations for decent service centres around the Rochester (Kent) area?

Hiya Mate,

I'd go to a good auto aircon specialist as they'll test the system for leaks first,
I had the same issue with mine and it ended up being the condenser by the radiator which apparently is a common fault on Vauxhalls
Cost me £200 for all to be done.

Hopefully tho it's just discharged and just needs to be refilled

Always worth changing your pollen filter as well

Got a quote from a garage - £78 for a recharge, plus £25 for an optional anti bacterial clean! Kwik fit say they do it for £49 and Halfords say they do it for £40, both including the anti bacterial clean! The garage told me that these cheaper chain dealers "don't use the correct equipment to charge the air con". Can't tell if there's any truth to that, surely the air con recharge is simply fitting the recharge machine to the car and filling up the coolant?

This same garage charged £750 for replacing my rear bumper :( Not sure how good a price that was either.
