Hi all, I have a pre facelift 1.3 cdti(75) and my auxiliary belt has started to make a squealing noise, seems to be a bit intermittent at the moment but was wanting to hopefully diagnose and fix before it gets any worse. Is this a common problem? Will it just be a belt replacement or is there any common problems with tension pulleys or dodgy bearings in waterpump etc......
Any help or advice would be great
Thanks.
all i will say is change the belt over and if it still squeels then it comming from somewhere else but to me it sounds like its just your belt.. if possiable make a video and post it up
Hi mate just back from the garage they have diagnosed a collapsed bearing in the water pump he showed me and it is pretty bad, so have to get fixed ASAP got it booked in for tomorrow
glad you got the problem identified and booked in to get it sorted. you dont want to drive for long with a collapsed bearing, if the pump fails and the engine stops getting water its bad news
Oh I know mate, I would have got it sorted today but the garage couldn't get the parts in time, so tomorrow morning next best, I've only 5 miles to do tonight then 3miles in the morning to the garage, so hopefully it will hold up ok until then.
Cheers
I had the same issue & it was a clutch pulley wheel on the alternator. VX wanted to change the whole thing but a local garage was able to source just the pulley wheel
