Hey basically been looking at ways of waxing my car..

I've never waxed a car other than using it in shampoo's etc..

Came across this as it looks easy to apply and will be alright for a beginner like me..

http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/autoglym/high-definition-wax.aspx

Anybody used this before? Or recommend any other waxing set to get me started?

Hi, I was the same as I'd never waxed before. I've just purchased some of the HD wax. It's amazing, leaves an awesome shine on the car when done. It's easy to apply and you don't need alot on the pad as well. Buffs off really good with the MF cloth they give you. It says wait ten mins then buff, I just apply it then wipe off, dunno if this is right but leaves the paint with a glossy deep shine to it. I'd recommend this wax :)

Black Edition lol
Autoglym HD wax is a decent starter wax but if you want something a little more specialised for your BE take a look on www.autocleanz.co.uk and search for Black Magic!

Quick Overview
Black Magic provides a combination of outstanding finish and longevity. Every pot is both hand-made and hand-poured to ensure consistent high quality. Whilst specially developed to give supreme performance, Black Magic is also very easy to use and will buff off with little effort.

Your wrong with the shine, wax does not give you shine,

Polishing gives you the shine, wax adds the durability

The polishing stage with give you the best possible finish, if you dont prepare the paint or do it in the right way you could apply a 5K wax that will give no different finish than a £40 one

Look into what you want to achieve and pick the products correctly to that.

Agreed, but I wouldn't apply any polish to a new car as all polish is abrasive.

As long as the paint is in good condition no scratches etc just applying a wax or sealant should seal your paintwork.

For example on my black edition all I've used since new is Autobrite Directs to seal & protect ( spray sealant ) however I've now also started to use Abyss paste sealant, both leave my car looking as good as new.

But if you've got small hair line scratches I'd recommend using our AIO polish cherry glaze first then apply a sealant or wax after

I've got a few scuffs on my bumper would the cherry glaze help cover them?
And as you know I drive a BE, which is a 62 plate which came with diamondbrite cleaner, which says it will never need to be polished or waxed..

Would you recommend waxing even tho I have that protection?

Agreed diamond brite isn't worth it.

When we had our BE we told the dealership not to touch it we picked the car up dirty.

My parents had a new 61 plate Honda CRV yesterday and that's had diamond brite treatment needless to say next weekend we'll be stripping it all off and starting again from scratch
