Bit of a strange one.... Fan heater blower works fine on switch setting #4 (i.e. full power - and by-passing the resistor pack). It doesn't work at all on the lower speeds - i.e. setting 1, 2, and 3. I decided to change the resistor pack anyway to rule that out... and the old one was fine - thermal fuse tested good.

Fuses: it's had this problem from when I first got the car. And I noticed that fuse F13 (7.5 amp) had blown. Sure enough, changing this fixed the problem - for a week or two. And then it blew the fuse. But after a third time, the fuse is fine but it still doesn't work. Puzzling...

Next step would be to take off glove compartment, front housings etc to expose motor and cable harnesses and try to do a bit of fault-finding. Circuit diagrams in Haynes are a bit cryptic (being polite) so will be resorting to working back checking lose connections.

Now i've read that the blower motors eventually start going tits-up and probably drawing more current etc. So it could be that it's on its way out - but if that was the case then i wouldn't expect it to work fine on full-speed setting #4?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

It's a 2012 1.4 petrol.

I've just changed it for a brand new one. And still doesn't work on 1-3 :) Also tested the old resistor pack with a multi-meter and it's fine..
