Fancy that, a tuning company that doesn’t check their customers cars when they’re booked in for a tune up, makes you wonder if it’s a vw thing or not, yes the engine is 140 now, and promising a 35 bhp increase is good but someone somewhere in the system isn’t doing their job very well if they don’t know which ecu is fitted to which car. Don’t think you’d get that at vx! Never mind money off the stage 1 I’d be after the stage 2 upgrade for free after the hassle you’ve had!

Fair enough I suppose, hope they’ll have the right file the next time not just a tweaked one that’ll make the engine go pop! Ah the joys of playing with cars! 😝

Well yes, they aren’t going to put an untested map on your car, then it goes pop and it gives them a bad name. Wonder what could be done to the bi turbo cdti in the astra k, I know the 2.0 bi turbo could go to 230 fairly easily from the astra j so you’d hope 180 from the 1.6 bi

And now for the drive home! Watch out for our friends with the silver vans with their back windows open, the remap will be very addictive! 😝

Number plates are great screwless, bomb the back of them with double sided number plate stickers, as for the design of them it’s entirely up to you, could go down the pressed steel look, looks great on my corsa d and even better on vw’s, go 3D gel, again not a bad look but the one that’s turning my head at the moment is the 3D look but with stuck on digits, kinda like how house numbers look, that seems a vw thing too. The other option is the German look with the clip in number plate surrounds and a pressed steel plate, I aren’t sure of the legality of them either but as long as the spacing are correct and the mot man is having a good day there shouldn’t be many problems, airhough quite what 👮‍♀️ would say if they were involved I don’t know.

Must be worth 10% off next job you have them do, headlights and taillights perhaps? Bit of advertising you’re doing for them, be worth an ask!

Looks well my old friend, be nice, as you rightly say, to be fully settled on the suspension and sat right again and when it’s fully detailed, will look absolute top drawer.

Yeah £135 without discount from their website, only thing is I’ll have to loose the flex floor! Bugger!

If it’s half as good as you reckon then I’m willing to give it a punt, I mean I’ve only a 1.2 5 door and all that but with a front strut brace and a decent coilover kit the old lass may be a bit of a sleeper

What coilovers did you use? It’s one of the jobs I want to get sorted on it before next year and do the bushes as they’re 8 years old now, just if I go with new oe or go powerflex or the like as I don’t want it too hard as it’s a daily driver!

Yeah heard a few people say fk’s are the ones to go for, and the bushes I’d be tempted to stay oe anyway as they’ve lasted this long, take it you had shorter drop links too?

Ah the twin port engine, if it was 84 bhp it’d be ‘rapid’ for a 1.2! I’ve a facelift 1.2 so really only get troubled by snails and slugs tailgating me, I mean the odd worm does get past but those damned snails, they sit on your back bumper then cut you up when they pull in! Least there’s enough power for the 1.2 badge to fall off as that seems to have happened to the ones I see, either that or the glue has hardened over time and the badge falls off with boredom and achieves its fastest ever speed as it hits the floor! 😂 God only knows what the 1.0 3 cylinder engine is like!

Looks as if it’s gonna be really good soon, will wait to see how you get on with yours I think, just spent last hour reading threads on Kermit, what a motor, you certainly had a smart motor in one of the best colours (yeah I know it wasn’t vx green but near enough) other than the dark grey and burnt orange that seems to be on late vxr’s and never been’s (Nurburgring) 😆. Always been a fan of big wheels on small cars, I remember my old f reg nova with 16 inch astra j sxi alloys looked pretty well, then had 17 compomotive mo’s on in white, but that was a few moons ago! If I wasn’t on 4 stud I’d love some Nurburgring anthracite alloys on the sxi but there’s just something about the se alloys from a e that look smart with being 2 tone, they look just like the astra k elite alloy. When I had the vectra c I just had it a few months but was saving up for the 20” evostars when it shat it’s engine, cylinder went pop and it was the z22se. If it was the earlier 2.2 I was looking at supercharging it but to modify the kit for the newer engine was just mad! Ah well, that’s cars for you!

I suppose since 95% of people go oem+ so that’s where the mods are, and to be fair most vdubs I’ve seen are on their arse with silly wide wheels or banded steels, body mods seem to be less is more and power gains seem to be minimal other than ecu reprogramming, clean styling seems to be the order of the day. Wonder what the golf e bumper would look like on mk6, suppose delete side strips and fly eye the lights and go led bulbs round.

Sub looks very nice, almost oe quality, are you using standard head unit for outputs?

It’s 8 inch version I take it, detailing looks spot on, silver always looks nice cleaned properly, just a shame my old lass has so many deep scratches and swirls in it and slugs of paint where someone had touched it in with a touch up pen, it’s look great fully detailed and polished up and the headlights are starting to age and make it look even worse but corsa’s always seem to sell so when the right 1.7 comes around and all that! 😆
