So it's been awhile since I updated, to be honest, I've not done anything or bought anything to be able to update this. I've been working like mad and not having much time to do anything else.
What I can say is, Gina is performing well and I'm loving driving the car as it is. I'm still wanting to get a remap done to get the most out of the engine, but I've not had time to go see anyone yet.
I'm trying my best to keep Gina clean and looking her best , but the weather is always undoing my efforts. Lol

The only thing I'm looking to do this weekend, is to fit my subwoofer and amp in the boot, I'm missing the bass. The oem stereo and speakers are really good, but they don't give that low end bass I like. Again, this will get done if the weather is good.
I'm not sure if to put pics up of fitting the sub and amp, I might do, I'll decide as I'm doing it.
Hey keep plodding on with it trying to keep forum al9ve. Th8nk would be good to see some pics of the job may be handy for.sp.eone. glad she's running well and.i..with you regarding the weather. I need to get one last.clean in b4 really bad weather hits.

I have noticed a drop in comments/questions etc etc on the forum.
If I do fit my sub and amp into Gina at the weekend, I’ll post some pictures up. It is a modification to the car I suppose.

So to wire an amp and subwoofer to the oem radio, I needed to find my rca converter. I hunted high and low for it and then realised I’d left it connected to the corsa before I sold it.
So because of that I decided to wait until I’d got everything I need to wire everything into the car.

Also decided to wait until I had afew days off which is this week, to give myself plenty of time for the install.

So I’ve been outside today to get all the wiring done in readiness for my amp, (which I’m still waiting to be powdercoated.)

The wiring is all fitted to the car but I can’t test it until I get the amp back. Once it’s all done I’ll post some pictures up that I’ve been taking.

So as usual, nothing goes as planned.
The amp and subwoofer are in the car and working.
It’s so nice having some low end bass again.
Anyway, my plan was to screw the amp to the back of the rear seat. The problem I’ve got is that the screws I’m using aren’t going into the seat back. I’m going to have to drill some pilot holes before the amp can be mounted. So I’m going to get some drill bits tomorrow when I’m in town anyway and finish the job. For now I thought I’d post afew pics of what I’ve done to get this all fitted.

Amp before

Amp after powdercoating

Rca converter which takes feed from the rear left and right on the oem radio block

Vibe 1500watt wiring kit that I used

Bass cannon

So at the mo, the amp is sat on the boot floor waiting for me to finish the fitting

Also I’ve ordered some numbers and letters stickers, so I can put writing back on the amp.

Yeah it was abit fiddly in some places. I’ve still got some finishing up to do but the main bit is done, plus it works!

So I decided not to drill pilot holes to mount the amplifier on the rear seat back, instead I’ve bought some large Velcro sticky pads which I stuck to the bottom of the amp. The power of Velcro is amazing, the amp doesn’t budge one bit.

Also today I cancelled my eBay order for number and letters stickers and bought some from a local arts and crafts shop.

I wanted to recreate what was written on the amp before I had it powercoated, see pics below.

Painted but no writing

So it’s been a while since my last update.

Towards the end of the year, I was working flat out. Obviously I had a few days off over the Xmas period and spent most of this time travelling to various family members, exchanging gifts and eating too much food.
This brings me to my next upgrade,
I noticed on one of my many journeys, that my brakes had developed a slight wobble under heavy braking. So I’m concluding that I have a warped disc.

This now brings me to my upgrade, I’ve decided to look at getting upgraded oem sized brake discs and pads.

So I’ve been online and found Brembo front discs and Brembo pads, with an online voucher code, I’ve got them from £170 to £85 from euro car parts.

I plan on collecting these on Saturday and holding onto them until the weather gets warmer. The reason for this, is that I never got round to painting the calipers last year, so I’m going to do this whilst changing the brakes over.

At the moment, the current discs and pads are in good condition despite the slight warp, so I’m going to hold out for good warm weather.
I’m not going to change the rear discs and pads yet as they was newly changed before I bought the car, just over a year ago. I will keep an eye on them though.

Nothing much to report, my car is always filthy due to the dismal weather .
Only thing I’ve done recently, is take to car mats out earlier and give them a Hoover and use some carpet shampoo to get the mud out and get them looking black again.

So looking forward to some good weather as Gina needs a serious detail inside and out. Also I’m itching to get the Brembo discs and pads fitted along with painting the calipers red.
Winter time sucks for us car people.

So update time,

Gina is booked in for an mot in April, I’ve booked nearly the whole of April off so I’ll be cracking on with afew mods/jobs.

I’ve just sold my original Porto alloys

And I’ve also bought some new axle stands,

got sick of borrowing my dads bright pink ones lol.

Update,

The front Brembo discs and pads are fitted.

Long story short, my brakes was making some horrible screeching noises and the warping when braking was doing my head in. So I just cracked on with getting them changed.

Unfortunately my phone battery was flat and was in my flat being charged, so I haven’t got any pictures of the process of changing the discs and pads.

What I can say is, the old discs looked ok-ish, the pads had plenty of meat on them and was eicher branded which is either euro car parts or gsf pads.

The change of discs and pads took afew hours as it was cold and I kept stopping to drink coffee.

I can say the brakes feel a lot better and no warping.

I have got a picture of the old discs and pads and I took some pictures of the new setup on the car today.

The only thing I’ve not done, is to paint the calipers, it was just too cold to attempt this, so this can wait till it warms up.

So as I’ve stated my mot runs out on the the 15th of April, I had it booked in for the same day.
My problem is, with the current situation, I don’t know if the mot station will be open on the 15th. I’m aware that the government are extending mot’s by 6 months to those cars that have mots due.
So I did a reg check on my car and it still shows the 15th of April as the mot due date. Will this change after this date to include the extra 6 months? Or will it just say I’m overdue until I can get it done?

I have just checked my mot and it still says it is due in novemeber, which is due then anyway. So it seems they are not updating the site you just have to know if ur in the 6 month extension and then i assume when u eventually go they will just adjust it there and then.

Yeah, guess I’ll just wait and see what happens. Just everything is so uncertain right now.

So I got the call from the mot place today, they said they are closing and won’t be doing mot’s after today. So I guess my car is under the 6month extension. I’m confident that my car is fine but it’ll have an extra time period before it’s next mot’d. To be honest, this gives me time to get the rear discs and pads done as they are borderline for needing a refresh aswell.
