Always a good idea with metal caps to put some copper slip on before fitting as they can be grade a buggers to get off! I learned the hard way back in the day, when cars were boxier and lighter but slower! Ahhh the mists are gently rolling in and the birds are twittering away in the trees!!!
You know never would have thought of this, been meaning to change mine but always get put off by the price I'm seeing . Bit copper slip definitely pearnt a lesson today.

So it’s that time again, Gina is having a full annual service at LVS near lincoln. She’s currently sat at 91k miles and continues to put a smile on my face.
As well as a full service she is having a slight repair done. Basically the brake pad warning wire/plug that attaches to the front brake pads, has corroded through, it telling me on the dash, to check brake wear, but I know the pads are fine.

So yeah, Gina is in good hands and I’ll be back to collect her later today

So big thankyou to lvs near Lincoln, the full service and repair to the brake wear sensor wiring is all fixed and completed. Gina is now all ready for next Friday, ( mot day! ).

So yeah, next Friday morning (15th), Gina is in for her mot. I’ve picked the first slot ( 8.30am ), so should she need any work doing, I’ve got all day to get it sorted. I’m quite confident that it’ll be a clean sheet again, but I’ll have to wait and see.

Best of British my old bean, it’s always nerve wracking mot time but it sounds as if you’ve crossed the t’s and dotted the i’s on this one.

So it mot day tomorrow (15th), Booked in at 8.30. I’ll be out doing my checks ( lights, fluids ready etc) first thing in the morning, then I’ll take it for a blast just to make sure she’s all warmed up and ready. I’m quietly confident that I shouldn’t have any problems.
I’ll post an update tomorrow.

Gina is now at the mot place.
Time for a Tesco’s full English and a 50 minute wait to see how Gina gets on.

So I’ve been thinking about doing something with the exhaust for a while. My ocd loves the look of the centre exit r32/r20 exhaust.
I’ve spent ages deciding whether to try this or not. So to cut a long story short, I’ve ordered a center exit diffuser! The exhaust at the moment, is not in stock, so I’ve not ordered that yet, but obviously I’ll be getting that asap.

Now i understand it’s kinda going down the replica route, but it’s a mod I want to try and if I don’t like it, I’ll put it back to standard.

So here’s a pic of the diffuser fitted on the mk6 non gti type bumper which is the same as mine.

Custom exhaust? If the r32 has 3” inward roll go 3 1/2 or 4 “ inward roll, then, yes, you are doing a replica but with your own twist! In fact it almost has a clip cup/ corsa Nurburgring feel to it !!

That picture is from the maxton design website, I can see the clio 182 exhaust vibe. Lol. I’m still unsure what style of exhaust tips I’m going for. Maxton design have 2 options for this diffuser. But I might go custom (powerflow), I don’t know yet.

So this arrived…

Just need to decide on what exhaust I’m getting.

Maxton do a rear delete and a backbox, or do I go custom??

Backbox delete

Or exhaust box

Not sure what to do!!!

Go custom back box delete, at least then if it gets too noisy for you they can put you one in at a later date, if you put the off the shelf delete one in and it’s 💩 you’ve shot a £190 hole in your wallet, plus with the custom version you can get the tailpipes you really want!

I’ve been speaking to a mate who’s a mechanic, he’s heavily into the modified car scene, anyway his advice was similar to yours, so I’m almost 100% going custom delete with slash cut tips. I’m going to get some quotes from some places nearby and see what they can offer and at what price.

So I’ve been to my local powerflow center recently, I’ve spoken to the guy there about what I want and how I want it to look, he’s happy to do the exhaust but, he says that there’s a heat shield that needs trimming behind the current diffuser. I told him that I’m happy to cut off the rear backbox and trim it myself before bringing the car up. Saves me afew quid, by doing it myself. So Gina is booked in on my week off in January, on a Wednesday, so that gives me afew days to get the backbox cut off and new diffuser fitted prior to the new custom exhaust being made and fitted.

I asked for a quote and he said £200-£300 which I know isn’t cheap but it’s stainless steel so it’s gonna last and I could also sell it on if I ever return the car to standard.

On the day, I’ll be choosing the tips that’ll be welded on, I’m not going for all out replica, so probably slash cut style tips.

I’ll add some pictures to explain it more clearly when the time comes.
