do you mean temp as in engine temp?

if so its because there is a light on your dash that will show if the engine is running hotter than normal. Basically modern cars look after themselves and if engine runs too hot it will shut down into safe mod preventing any harm to the engine. Therefore no need for a visible engine temp anymore.

Also modern cars have to have their engines upto running temp within 60secs for emmission laws so no need to have to watch the temp actually rise to optimum before setting off, just wait 60secs then go.

hope that helps

makes sense i suppose

I have always been one for visual guages as i like to know what is going on with the car all the time but if you say that they have advanced management systems then i guess there is no need for visual guages anymore

Cheers for that!
