Hi! I’m looking for some advice…

I drive a 2016 Corsa EcoFlex 1.4 Petrol, Manual.

The above was an advisory on my last MOT. As a women, going into garages really worries me so I was wondering if anyone would know roughly how much this would cost or what it even means before my next MOT so I’m aware of what to expect?

The repair as soon as possible parts have been sorted by a local mobile mechanic - but he can’t do MOT’s!

thank you in advance

Hi
The advisories mean there is some movement at the top of the shock absorbers, there are mounts and bushes that are bolted together and over time they become worn and loose.... most likely part no.7 in the parts diagram. You can get a pair of them on the likes of ebay for around £50, fitting is around an hours labour. Or you can improvise and make a rubber shim and place it under the top cap no.3 to take up the slack and stop any movement in the shock. I recently done this for a friend with the same advisories. See pics.

Did the mobile mechanic replace just the dust covers or the complete track rod ends? If it was the complete track rod ends a wheel alignment should be done or you might feel the steering is off/pulling.
