Hi all, thanks for letting me join. got into my son's 63'plate corsa ecoflex which had been standing for a week. Nothing lighting up on the dash and no indicators. Checked the fuse in the passenger glove box which was ok but changed it anyway. Car starts ok and drives , lights work, clock works and radio works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If the instrument panel needs to come out , a few pointers towards removal would also be a great help. Thanks in anticipation.
Hi maybe its a problem with the wiring harness or the instrument cluster itself. check for current continuity at the harness for a start.
below is video for removing the speedometer.the first half of video is informative.
Hi Banda, followed the video as suggested and removed the instrument panel, I noticed when reconnecting the harness plug a slight whirring sound for a second or so ,this with ignition off. All appeared ok on the circuit board except for that bit under the arrow in the photo, not being electroni
cally minded, i'm not sure if it's a short out. Thanks again for your help.
hi johnnywilkins.just an afterthought. even if you buy a second hand instrument panel from EBAY you will have to reprogramme it
There are places which repair these circuit boards without having to change the original cluster.worthwhile looking into that.
Not sorted yet Banda, sent a photo to one company in Leicester who said they couldn't help so I gave the unit to my local garage who use a reputable company in Essex, i'll keep you posted.
They put it on test and everything worked ok. I should be picking it up later so I'll refit it, if it won't work on the Corsa, then I'll need a wiring diagram and someone with diagnostics.
Hi, refitted the instrument cluster to the corsa, fired it up and everything is working fine, I reckon its a water leak problem, cos I noticed a slight drip coming from the top of the A post, gonna search for common water leaks now. Thanks for all.
Cluster failed again, so I sent the car to another garage, they tested the electrics which were fine and sent the cluster to a Nottingham company, it came back unrepaired and irrepairable , cost so far 200 quid !! So the cluster was posted to a company called SANSCARS on ebay, they fitted a replacement PCB and sent it back to me this morning... BINGO, all up and running with the correct mileage reading and all. Apparantly if its plugged into the diagnostics then it will tell you its not coded, you'd need to take your complete car to Leicester for that luxury. £ 160 quid for that service but well worth it to get that monkey off my back. If you get this fault on your Corsa, don't fanny about like I did !! send it directly to these people , they really are the bee's knees !!!!

Thanks, as you say "I personally shall not bother cos' everything is working fine"
