Right I've just been through this process. My last car had approx £1500 left on finance. I went to Vauxhall again as I was after a 1.4 Sri. They game me a price for the vehicle, this covered the settlement payment of the finance and had enough spare to put as a deposit for the 1.4. How that helped, if u need more clarification just pm me! ;)

So for example if I owe £14k and they give me £13k then excess £1k will be added to the finance of the new vehicle.

So say the new car is worth £20k, the finance will be for £21k minus deposit etc.

61 plate sri got 8500 at my local dealer recently - that had done 12k miles. That was a part ex for a 2.0 astra.

So maybe around 10k mark? As a trade in.

So I'd lose £2000 as it stands with 11k trade in
Can get cracking deal on a new car though

With the £2k neg equity will it still be a good deal though bud? It will make it more difficult to trade in the new car in a few years if you want to as well because you will owe a lot more than it will be worth remember. :( need to be absolutely certain before you take on negative equity IMO.
