I've just signup with them, and they asked to pay an other 125 for todays callout because I have joined them today.

Yes it's a bit steep but at least you are covered now and with luck you will be back on the road today, they will give you a decent quality battery so you have only really paid 70 pounds for a full year's cover as you would have had to pay for a battery yourself and fit it.

If you mean battery I assume they will bring one that covers the needs of you vehicle so it may be better than it needs to be (higher crank rate). So you win again.

if you are new to the car and unsure about the basic mechanics of a car it's worth it although bit pricey for a start

My advice is to try and learn about basic maintenance of a car and buy basic tools over time.
it will come in handy in the future

It's a lot to pay out in one go but the alternative was join tomorrow at £14 per month and wait for them to come out, they may have a restriction on how soon they visit when you just join monthly I know our house pipework and boiler insurance does to stop people paying a month then cancelling payments after the first payment when they have already fixed the problem.

I may be wrong but It looks like he paid an emergency breakdown fee (see A) instead of taking out the package with battery cover then reporting the breakdown once it kicked in (see B).

Can I join if I've already broken down?
If you've broken down already and you're not a member of the RAC, we can still help you. Simply call 0333 202 1857 to speak to an advisor. You'll become an RAC member and we'll send help to support you. Included in the fee you will pay is an emergency call-out charge which covers you for assistance at the roadside or at home on the day you call along with a 12 month PAYG membership.
If we can't get you going again we'll give you a tow of up to 10 miles to either an address of your choosing or a local garage.



When will my cover start if I buy today?
As long as you haven’t broken down already, your breakdown cover will start as soon as your payment has been accepted.
If you have Standard, Advanced or Ultimate cover, you’ll be covered for roadside and home rescue and a 10-mile tow for the first 24 hours. After 24 hours, your full cover will start (excluding some of our breakdown extras, if you have them).

They scam people. Just arrived and said that battery cover is not started for 14 days and i have to pay for a new battery £110 now.

Really was. I think i will cancel them. And look somewhere else. Probably could cost me more cheaper buying a new battery. Really pissed off.
