Its very difficult to repair these ecu's. Unfortionately you can't just plug and play a used ecu as it'll be already programmed to another car. A new ECU is £1381.20 plus programming.

 

Hey Bluepeter... I have been in this boat, and the amount of help you can get is minimal...

I am still in the process of finalising my predicament, but here is the short answer...

Find a replacement ECU Kit on Ebay... for a Corsa C they start about £40, for a D they average about £70. But if you get just the ECU you can find a couple of firms who will come along with Opcom or Tech 2 and re-programme it to your PIN and correct the milage.

I have a 'D' and I the mechanic mashed up my ECU so I have been through all kinds of greif repairing mine. I just need the gears 'reprogramming' and I am up and running.

All is not lost, you just have to find a good honest mechanic who is willing (I couldn't... I did it myself)

Might of been of help to Backup the Manufacturer Firmware before altering the Firmware Variables. Then you could transfer the Manufacturer Firmware to the new ECU with exact variables set to your Car. Zero hasstle, and you can just Flash multiple ECU`s, so they are at hand when water damage breaks one (Plug & Play)

From what i gather, as long as you keep the drainage holes near the ECU clear, your ECU will last longer, as its a flaw in placement of the ECU.

Maybe Vauxhall should provide a free Extension Kit so that it can be placed in a more plausable place, with instructions of course or make it a viable CallBack so they can correct their errors; they do it for AirBags. Though i suppose if you crash because of lack of Health and Safety, thats an issue, though the Life of your Car is not, unless its chargable.

Crank the ignition and nothing, pulled the starter relay and probed and it cranks, but doesn’t fire.
Digging the wire diagram out tomorrow to do some checks
